Pupils at Steephill Independent School and Pre-School, located just outside Longfield near Gravesend, have gained fantastic results in their end of year tests.
Students from Year 1 to Year 6 take part in the tests in which the children are measured on the their developed ability (reasoning and general knowledge), maths and English.
The children in each year group attained an average of 1.5 years above their actual age and in every year the highest achievement is 3.5 years or more above their actual age. As this is a mixed ability school the achievements of the school are staggering.
Children starting at the school, which is located just outside Longfield in Kent, are not assessed for academic ability. More important is that they demonstrate an attitude suitable to the ethos of the school, and are hard working, committed to sports and arts out of the classroom, polite, well mannered and prepared to be a friend to everyone.
The tests are taken on-line and give a clear picture of progress and strengths and weaknesses of every child. The school’s staff then work to ensure that each child has work directed to these areas. This close attention to detail and small classes of 16 are the secret to ensuring the children are making the best progress possible.
