"My husband and I like the small class sizes, as such not only are they academically challenged, they are taught good character and values. The teachers are striving to help them develop a sense of individuality, accountability and responsibility. We are particularly appreciative of the partnership we have with the school and its teachers because it is helping our children to be the best they can be, building their confidence , becoming rounded and happy individuals."
The School sets out to instil an understanding of friendship in the pupils for each other. This friendship and support between all members of the community underpins the way children conduct themselves on a day to day basis.
Opportunities are given for pupils to take part in academic (e.g. quizzes), sporting (e.g. matches, sports day) and art (e.g. Gravesham Festival, ISA competition, drama) activities. These events are given equal importance encouraging commitment in all aspects of School life.
The School is mixed ability and aims to provide each child with the quality of education that allows them to reach their full potential. The teachers work to support and encourage pupils so that lessons are stimulating and enjoyable. A feeling of achievement is fostered at all levels of working to boost confidence. The process of learning is as important as knowledge acquired, and both are actively supported.
The final year in Class VI is enhanced by preparation for secondary school through projects and work delivered through a creative curriculum.
"We had spent months looking endlessly for a school that fitted the needs of our two sons after relocation from the USA. We visited Steephill School and immediately loved it. Small by design yet offering a warm ,comfortable and family atmosphere. The school has given our more than what we bargained for. As a family it is important for our boys to be prepared to be global citizens which is reflected by Steephill curriculum. They cultivate cross-cultural awareness activities through its international days , I see the boys are becoming more open and developing more meaningful, satisfying relationships."
