SMSC

Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is a significant strength of the school and is embedded throughout school life. A wide range of opportunities within the curriculum, enrichment programme and community engagement activities enables pupils to develop self-awareness, confidence, empathy and a strong sense of social responsibility. Participation in events such as church services, Steephill Showcase performances, charitable initiatives and extra-curricular clubs encourages pupils to reflect on their values, contribute positively to their community and develop their individual talents and interests.

Our values-led ethos, supported by strong links with the local church and wider community, provides meaningful opportunities for pupils to explore and respect different beliefs, cultures and perspectives. Pupils demonstrate a secure understanding of right and wrong and increasingly apply this understanding when making decisions and resolving conflicts. They show maturity in their relationships with others, collaborate effectively across age groups and contribute positively to the inclusive and supportive culture of the school. Engagement in cultural, creative and leadership opportunities further enriches pupils’ experiences, broadens their understanding of the world and prepares them well for the next stage of their education and future life in modern Britain.
