Outdoor Curriculum
Forest School
Our Forest School sessions are led by a qualified Level 3 Forest School practitioner and take place throughout the year, allowing children to experience and explore the changing seasons.
Each week, our Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils spend half a day learning and exploring on our dedicated Forest School site. Key Stage 2 pupils also take part in half-day Forest School sessions each week, every other half term across the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms.
At Steephill, Forest School is designed to nurture a strong and lasting connection between children and the natural world through carefully planned, child-centred experiences in a woodland environment.
Forest School reflects Steephill’s core values of KIND:
K – Knowledge
Developing curiosity and a love of learning through hands-on discovery and exploration.
I – Inclusive
Ensuring every child feels welcomed, valued and able to participate fully.
N – Nurturing
Providing a safe and supportive environment that promotes emotional well-being and personal growth.
D – Determined
Encouraging perseverance, resilience and confidence through challenge and adventure.
Steephill Forest School is a place where children flourish — developing essential life skills, building meaningful relationships with the natural world and growing into confident, capable learners.
