Special Educational Needs and Disability Information

SENCO: Mrs Claire Ross             Email: senco@steephill.co.uk

At Steephill School, we are committed to providing an inclusive, nurturing environment in which every pupil can thrive. We recognise that pupils may have a range of special educational needs or disabilities and we ensure that these are identified early and supported effectively so that each child can make strong progress from their starting points.

Our SEND provision is overseen by the SENCo and monitored by senior leaders and governors. We adopt a graduated approach — Assess, Plan, Do, Review — ensuring that support is purposeful, evidence-informed and regularly evaluated for impact.

Provision may include:

  • High-quality adaptive teaching within the classroom

  • Targeted small-group or individual interventions

  • Personalised learning plans with clear outcomes

  • Reasonable adjustments to remove barriers to learning

  • Collaboration with specialist external professionals where appropriate

As a school, we pride ourselves on knowing our pupils well. Close relationships between staff, pupils and families enable us to respond swiftly and flexibly to emerging needs. We work in partnership with parents and carers, valuing open communication and shared decision-making to secure the best possible outcomes.

Our aim is to ensure that all pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience, and are well-prepared for the next stage of their education.
