LIFE OPPORTUNITIES

Being well prepared for your secondary school whether independent, state selective, super-selective or non-selective is of the greatest importance. How a child spends their time and what opportunities they take will influence that child for the rest of their life.

Academic preparation is at the top of this school’s agenda and we want every child to be able to succeed at their next school – which ever is right for them and their families. We work to the belief that if you have high expectations of people then they will flourish and do their best. We are very lucky as we have highly motivated families and therefore pupils who all want to do that best.

Our results are a testament to the success of this strategy. Every year at least 70% of the class gain a Grammar School place. In the last few years we have had several scholarships to Independent Secondary schools. Please visit the results for further information.

Life Opportunities enhance and support this academic attainment. The more we experience of the world then the better is our understanding of it, the better our vocabulary, the better our general knowledge. This supports academic work such as inference in English, problem-solving in mathematics, understanding concepts in science.

Other opportunities bring confidence building, ability to speak in public, able to challenge and ask questions, knowledge of the arts, prowess in sport.

We nurture all these opportunities by providing opportunities to play sports against other schools, enter national sports competitions, national art competitions. We enter local festivals in singing, recorder, choir, choral speaking, reading, recitation and musical theatre. We go on trips to museums, art galleries and historical buildings. In recent years children from this school have won or been in the top 5 in national art competitions, national hand-writing, national cross country and national athletics tournaments.
