Home reading

Please listen to your child read as often as you can, everyday is ideal even if it is just for 5 minutes. Their reading book(s) will be checked and changed daily. Please bring their book bags in daily – write the book title in their reading record, write a comment and then sign to indicate that they have been read with at home.

Authors

As well as hearing the children read daily, it is also really important to read stories to your children to build up their love of book!! Reading to the children helps develop their story writing - it gives them ideas for plots, different characters and settings which they can then develop in their own way. Furthermore it helps introduce interesting vocabulary, so make sure you stop and discuss the meaning of these difficult words so that they can learn them and hopefully use them in their writing.

I will make a list of suggested authors and books which would be suitable for children of this age. If you read any other exciting books at home, please let me know and I can add it to the list so that others can also enjoy the story.
